早幾年前，日本興起一陣自殺熱潮，這全是由一本專門教人爬殺的書引起的。而書中提及的一個自殺勝地－－位於日本富士山山腳下的一個森林，又名「自殺森林」。

不少旅遊車經過這個森林時，都會特意加速以求盡快遠離，更絕對不讓團友下車。偏偏有一次，一團台灣遊客在車上聽到導遊說起這個森林的故事，他們好奇心大發，堅持要下車去拍個照。導遊說服不了團友，只好讓他們下車。不過，導遊千叮萬囑他們切勿走進森林。再著他們十分鐘後集合上車。

怎料十分鐘後，一位女團友發現男朋友不知所蹤，導遊知道出事了，於是立刻報警求助。不消一會兒，十多名警察煞有介事的到達。他們每人都在身上綑上一條長繩，而每條長繩的另一端就牢牢地綑在森林外面；接著每人輪流進入森林搜索，十分鐘後便會被森林外的同僚拉出來，以保安全。

經過連日搜索，警方都無任何發現，而那個台灣男士就這樣人間蒸發了。

這個「自殺森林」一向都很邪門，從來沒有一個進去的人可以走出來。當地警方會定期派警員用綑繩的方法，進入森林去清理屍體。而森林內不斷會發現到屍體，像永遠都掃不清似的......

面積約三千公頃的「青木原樹海」，位於富士山腳下的西湖和紅葉台之間每年吸引著慕名而來的「特殊遊客」前來此地，他們不是為了一覽森林之美 也不是來度假遊玩，而是到此結束生命。

「青木原樹海」地層下，具有磁性的火山岩，此天然磁場會讓指南針失去作用，再加上森林裡古木參天，即使是白天也不見天日，進入者鮮少能活著出來 又因屍體不易被發現，因此成為自殺者悄悄離開世間的「天堂」 故而被稱為「自殺森林」。
